this is a nice observation by amanda cormier: I just remembered that until fairly recently we’d call our loved ones and say “hi, it’s me” which is a lovely phrase now made totally obsolete!
related, i love those fast synchronous subsets of texting threads where ppl feel like saying "hi" and "bye"
